About Wendy
For more than 20 years, I have dedicated my career to helping children become confident, capable readers and writers. As a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, tutor, educational consultant, and homeschooling mom, I have worked with students of all learning styles and abilities, helping them develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and personally.
I earned my master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University and have spent my career studying how children learn to read, write, and communicate effectively. Throughout my work, I have remained committed to evidence-based literacy instruction and the belief that every child can make meaningful progress when given the right support.

What I enjoy most about teaching is watching children discover confidence in themselves as learners. Reading difficulties can affect far more than academic performance—they can impact a child’s self-esteem, motivation, and willingness to take risks. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel successful, encouraged, and empowered to grow.
I have extensive experience working with struggling readers, students with learning differences, neurodiverse learners, and homeschooling families seeking personalized educational support. Every tutoring plan is tailored to the unique strengths and needs of the individual child because no two learners are exactly alike.
As both an educator and a mother of three sons, I understand how deeply parents care about their children’s success. I partner closely with families, providing clear communication, practical guidance, and personalized instruction designed to help children make lasting progress.

At Literacy Enterprises Tutoring Services (LETS), my mission is simple: to help every child develop the literacy skills, confidence, and love of learning needed to thrive in school and beyond.
I have taught in private, public and international schools, and have homeschooled my 3 children. I understand the limitations of classroom-based instruction and meet children where they are. All programs are based in sound literacy pedagogy and well-researched, effective literacy practices. I am a state-certified educator in both Elementary Education and English as a Second Language with training in Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) education. I have served as the Academic Director for an Austin-based center dedicated to providing neurodivergent children and adults with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and explore. In all roles, I foster inclusive, supportive environments where every learner’s unique strengths are celebrated.

Testimonials
"Wendy is a dream, she knew when to push, and when to slowdown and integrate more play. Her education and experience with little ones was obvious. She was well equipped to handle big feelings and tired days, and most importantly my child thrived. After only 6 months we far exceeded our learning goals."

"Over the year I had the pleasure of working with Wendy I had the opportunity to observe her class quite often and I have witnessed the enthusiasm and energy she has for the teaching profession. She is able to develop a positive relationship with all of her students and she also develops a deep understanding of the needs of children, something which she always takes into account when planning her classes. She sets the right tone for learning with clear routines and by having all materials needed ready. I will always remember her as a teacher who sets a benchmark for excellence."

"We have been working with Wendy for the last several months to help our KG—now 1st grader—improve his reading skills. Our son has gone from being shy and reluctant to demonstrate his reading skills to a more confident reader-in-training during this short time. His sight/snap word recognition has blossomed, he can sound out almost anything now, and he’s even getting more confident with his handwriting. Wendy uses a variety of exercises to not only keep our son engaged but also to effectively convey the material. He absolutely LOVES working with Wendy and the fun games she always has for him. Even when we were traveling, Wendy found a way for our son to maintain his skills and continue to make some progress through online tutoring and the Lexia Core5 app. We’re now confident that our son is growing as a strong reader and finally getting the solid foundation that he needs to succeed, all thanks to Wendy’s dedication and expertise!

"Wendy is a fantastic teacher who makes children feel seen and supported. My son was an emergent and somewhat reluctant reader before he worked with Wendy. She gave him the skills to grow as an independent reader, and also showed him kindness and acceptance, which made him feel comfortable in the learning environment. He grew so much as a reader while working with Wendy, and was always motivated to work hard for her. Wendy was kind to our family, and always accepting of my son's neurodivergence and high energy level. She knows how to channels kids' energy into success, and I would recommend her services to anyone."

"Wendy Cody was my daughter's teacher in the Montessori Upper Class. I was so impressed with Wendy's ability to orchestrate the diverse room into work teams and schedule into the day individualized lessons to support students above and striving for the grade level standard. The classroom atmosphere was always warm and friendly with students eager to share their work and accomplishments. There was always a calm, quiet spirit to the room that was very much a reflection of Wendy's teaching style and persona. The students exceeded expectations regularly with the encouragement and curiosity- encouraging environment she created. My daughter had a wonderful year in that class which gave her a very strong foundation when she moved on. I highly recommend Wendy Cody as a teaching professional."

"Where’s the 6-star button? I can’t say enough good things about Ms. Wendy. The progress our 7-year-old has made in reading and writing is incredible—but even more impressive is the boost in our kiddo's confidence and self-esteem. He usually prefers playtime over schoolwork, but not when it comes to working with Ms. Wendy. He looks forward to every session, and it’s clear she creates such a positive, encouraging environment that he feels excited to learn."
